Vintage 1970s/1980s JC Baseball Gem Sportswear Jacket

Dating to approximately the late 1970s to early 1980s, this JC Baseball jacket was made in the USA by Gem Sportswear, a longstanding maker of American team and varsity apparel. Finished in a rich brown nylon with striped brown, white and gold ribbing, it features oversized “JC” appliqué lettering at the chest with embroidered Baseball script beneath, giving it the unmistakable look of period school and local-team sportswear. The snap-front construction, lightweight satin-style shell and elasticated ribbed trims create the classic bomber silhouette associated with American athletic jackets of the era. Unlike modern reproductions, the slightly cropped proportions and simple team-specific detailing give it the character of genuine community sportswear from the period. There are some marks to the white lettering and areas of missing stitching consistent with age, but overall the jacket remains in very good vintage condition. An unusual piece of early American baseball apparel with a particularly strong brown-and-gold colourway and plenty of authentic vintage character.
